a drug used in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer resistant to hormonal treatment. It reduces testosterone production in prostate and adrenal tissues by inhibiting an enzyme, cytochrome P450 17A1, involved in the androgen-producing pathway in these tissues (see anti-androgen).
