Amethocaine: From 2 Different Sources


An e?ective local anaesthetic for topical application. Rapidly absorbed from mucous membranes, it should never be applied to in?amed, traumatised or highly vascular surfaces – nor used when providing anaesthesia for bronchoscopy or cystoscopy. Amethocaine is used in ophthalmology and in skin preparations. It may sensitise the skin. (See ANAESTHESIA.)
