n. 1. surgical removal of the bony walls of an *antrum. See antrostomy. 2. (distal gastrectomy) a surgical operation in which the gastric antrum is removed. Indications for antrectomy include peptic ulcer disease resistant to medical treatment, tumours, perforation, and gastric outlet obstruction.
