Arthrography: From 2 Different Sources


A diagnostic technique in which the interior of a damaged joint is X-rayed after injection of a radiopaque solution.

It is being replaced by MRI, ultrasound scanning, and arthroscopy.

n. an imaging technique for examining joints. A contrast medium (either *radiolucent gas or a *radiopaque material) is injected into the joint space, outlining its contents and extent accurately. Conventional arthrography has now largely been replaced by magnetic resonance arthrography (MR arthrography; see magnetic resonance imaging).
