n. a CNS *stimulant used for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children and adolescents. Side-effects include anorexia, dry mouth, gastrointestinal upsets, palpitation, and sleep disturbance, and there is a small risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour.
