computerized tomographic pulmonary angiography: a modification of computerized tomographic *angiography in which the computer software optimizes the view of the pulmonary arteries. Also known as SVCT (spiral volumetric computerized tomography), it has become a useful tool for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
