The breaking open of a wound that is partly healed, usually after surgery.
n. 1. a splitting open, as of a surgical wound. 2. (in dentistry) loss of alveolar bone from the facial aspect of a tooth that leaves a root-exposing defect, typically oval in shape, extending from the *cemento-enamel junction towards the apex.
(SCDS) a rare condition characterized by sound- or pressure-induced vertigo (see Tullio phenomenon), hearing loss, *autophony, and a sense of fullness in the affected ear. It is associated with absence of the bone that normally lies over the superior *semicircular canal. Diagnosis involves computerized tomography and *vestibular evoked myogenic potential testing.
