Features ? Stem up to eighteen inches, slender, hairy, well-branched. Leaves opposite, oval-lanceolate, slightly serrate, nearly sessile ; root leaves stalked, ovoid, smooth at margins. Flowers dark purple, on long stalk, florets bunched together.The common name is derived from the root. which appears to have been bitten off at the end, with which vandalism "the devil" is credited.Part used ?
