A TUMOUR formed of cartilage.
n. (pl. enchondromata) a benign cartilaginous tumour (see chondroma) occurring within cortical bone, usually in the short tubular bones of the hands and feet. Such tumours are usually solitary and asymptomatic, but an enlarging lesion may fracture (the usual reason for presentation). When multiple tumours occur the condition is known as enchondromatosis. Compare ecchondroma.
