n. an analgesic that relieves inflammation (see NSAID), used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, dysmenorrhoea, and other painful conditions and to prevent contraction of the pupil during eye surgery. Side-effects may include gastrointestinal upset, diarrhoea, and nausea.
