Family: Compositae; Asteraceae.

Habitat: Plains of Northern and Western India and Deccan Peninsula.

Ayurvedic: Parpata (substitute). (Fumaria parvifolora Linn., Hedyotis corymbosa (L.) Lam synonym Oldenlandia corymbosa Linn., Mollugo cerviana (L.) Ser., Justicia procumbens Linn., Polycarpea corymbosa Lam are also used as Parpata for fevers.)

Siddha: Parapalanamu.

Action: Used as emmenagogue.

Glossopharyngeal

The glossopharyngeal nerve is the ninth cranial nerve, which in the main is a SENSORY nerve, being the nerve of taste in the posterior third of the tongue and the nerve of general sensation for the whole upper part of the throat and middle ear.
