The British Herbal Pharmacopoeia reported anti-inflammatory activity in the resin.Several triterpene saponins, sapo- genins and prosapogenins have been isolated from different parts of the plant.A triterpenoidal saponin, isolated from the flowers, showed activity against Gram-negative bacteria. (The herb is used as a additive to mouth washes.)
