Hyoid: From 2 Different Sources


A small, U-shaped bone situated centrally in the upper part of the neck. It is not joined to any other bone but is suspended by ligaments from the base of the skull. It provides an anchor point for the muscles of the tongue and of the upper front part of the neck.
