Infliximab: From 1 Different Sources


n. a *monoclonal antibody that inhibits the activity of *tumour necrosis factor (TNF-?; see cytokine inhibitor). It is used to treat severe Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis that have failed to respond to treatment with corticosteroids or immunosuppressants and antirheumatic drugs, respectively. Side-effects include intestinal upset, flushing, and allergic reactions.
