The plant contains pentasaccharide glucoside of ethyl-ll-hydroxy hexade- canoate. The seeds contain alkaloids, ipomine, isoipomine, methoxyipo- mine, dimethoxyipomine, ipalkidini- um, ipalbidine and ipalbine.
