An infusion of the root is given in syphilis. The plant is employed in poultice for pimples.

Family: Onagraceae.

Habitat: A native of the New World; found in marshy fields in India.

Ayurvedic: Jala-lavanga, Bhuu- lavanga, Bana-laung.

Siddha/Tamil: Nirkkrambu.
