Synonym: Dendrophthoe falcate (Linn. f.) Etting.

Family: Loranthaceae.

Habitat: Throughout India, as a parasite.

Ayurvedic: Bandaaka, Sanharshaa, Vrikshaadani, Vrikshaaruha, Vriksha-bhakshaa. (A large bushy parasite, which causes much damage to the host tree.)

Folk: Baandaa.

Action: Tender shoots—contain 10% tannins. Bark—astringent and narcotic.

Family: Papilionaceae.

Habitat: The Himalayas from Kumaon to Khasi Hills and in Western Peninsula.

Ayurvedic: Kulatthikaa.

Synonym: Dendrophthoe pentandra (Linn.) Miq.

Family: Loranthaceae.

Habitat: Sylhet. (A parasite found on trees.)

Ayurvedic: Bandaaka (var.).

Folk: Baandaa.

Action: Leaves—used as poultice for sores and ulcers. The twigs contain quercitrin and a wax, which gives melissyl alcohol. The twig ash (8.95%) contains manganese (0.26%).... loranthus pentandrus
