Malakoplakia: From 1 Different Sources


n. a rare form of chronic inflammatory disorder due to the defective destruction of phagocytosed bacteria. It is characterized by the formation of soft yellow plaques and nodules composed of foamy macrophages containing basophilic cytoplasmic inclusions (Michaelis–Gutmann bodies). Malakoplakia occurs most commonly in the urinary tract but can also occur in the skin.
