Metanephros: From 1 Different Sources


n. the excretory organ of the fetus, which develops into the kidney and is formed from the rear portion of the *nephrogenic cord. It does not become functional until birth, since urea is transferred across the placenta to the mother.

Dysplastic Kidneys

any developmental abnormalities resulting from anomalous metanephric differentiation (see metanephros). Nephrogenic Cord

either of the paired ridges of tissue that run along the dorsal surface of the abdominal cavity of the embryo. Parts of it develop into the kidney, ovary, or testis and their associated ducts. Pronephros
