Persistent excessive thirst

Excessive thirst, which is a symptom of DIABETES MELLITUS and some other diseases.
n. abnormally intense thirst, leading to the drinking of large quantities of fluid. This is a symptom typical of *diabetes mellitus and *diabetes insipidus but it can occur in the absence of any metabolic abnormality (psychogenic polydipsia). See also water-deprivation test.
