Pyloroplasty Health Dictionary

An operation in which the pylorus (the outlet from the stomach) is widened to allow free passage of food into the intestine.

Pyloroplasty may be performed as part of the surgery for a peptic ulcer, or to prevent tightening of the pyloric muscles after vagotomy.

n. a surgical operation in which the outlet of the stomach (pylorus) is widened by a form of reconstruction. It is done to allow the contents of the stomach to pass more easily into the duodenum and is commonly combined with a truncal *vagotomy to treat peptic ulcers.
