Saphenous: From 1 Different Sources

The name given to the two large superficial veins of the leg. The small saphenous vein, which runs up the outside and back of the leg, joins the deep veins at the bend of the knee; the great saphenous vein – the longest vein in the body, which has a course from the inner ankle to the groin – is especially subject, with its branches, to become the site of VARICOSE VEINS.

Saphenous Vein

A major vein that runs the length of the leg just under the skin.

Saphenous Nerve

a large branch of the *femoral nerve that arises in the upper thigh, travels down on the inside of the leg, and supplies the skin from the knee to below the ankle with sensory nerves.... saphenous nerve
