n. any of several muscles arising from or inserted by a series of processes that resemble the teeth of a saw. An example is the serratus anterior, a muscle situated between the ribs and shoulder blade in the upper and lateral parts of the thorax. It is the chief muscle responsible for pushing and punching movements.
