Examples include *aspartate aminotransferase (AST), which catalyses the transamination of glutamate and oxaloacetate to ?-ketoglutarate and aspartate, and *alanine aminotransferase (ALT), converting glutamate and pyruvate to ?-ketoglutarate and alanine.
