Ureterolithotomy: From 2 Different Sources


The surgical removal of a stone (see calculus, urinary tract) stuck in a ureter.

It is not commonly needed because lithotripsy and cystoscopy can be used to deal with stones.

n. the surgical removal of a stone from the ureter (see calculus). The operative approach depends upon the position of the stone within the ureter. If the stone occupies the lower portion of the ureter, it may be extracted by *cystoscopy, thus avoiding open surgery.
